Cudahy Family Library Endowment Fund
Next Chapter Endowment Campaign
The Creation of a Special Fund
From its humble beginnings in the back of a small drug store, the Cudahy Family Library has always been invested in and valued by the community. The ongoing commitment the Cudahy community has for its Library was demonstrated again in March 2003 when enough money was raised to construct a new 30,000-square-foot, $4 million facility.
In the last six years, our beautiful Library has surpassed projections in circulation and program participation, yet funding for the Library’s budget from the city’s tax levy provides few additional dollars for the book and media collection, technology, or special programs and services. The Library’s leadership wanted to find other streams of income so our library could always be a source of pride for Cudahy. For that reason, the Cudahy Family Library Fund was created as part of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
What is an Endowment Fund and Why Does the Cudahy Family Library Need One?
This fund is an endowment, which means that the principal is held in perpetuity and the income that comes from the investments is used for the Library’s needs each year. This additional revenue will be used for items that are not covered by city funds, such as technology, collections, special programs, services, and growth-related expenditures. Tax levy revenue is used to cover staff salaries and benefits plus building operations and maintenance.
With limited financial resources today and potentially fewer resources in the future, an endowment provides assurances that the Cudahy Family Library will be here to serve future generations.
All donors who contribute to this special fund with any gift amount will become members of the Next Chapter Society. Your name will be included in our annual report and recorded in a book that will be permanently displayed in a visible location in the Library.
Donations of $2,500 or more will be included in the Library’s permanent lobby signage designed for Next Chapter Society members. Named funds are available with gifts of $25,000 or more. In addition to honoring or memorializing an individual or family with a named fund, there is an opportunity to designate specific areas of the Library to be the recipient of the proceeds from your named fund.
Please Consider a Donation
There are many ways to give to the Cudahy Family Library. Consider including the Cudahy Family Library in your will or trust as part of your estate plan. Some individuals have named the Library as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or qualified retirement plan. Donations of stock, bonds, or other property are also welcome, and often times there are significant tax advantages associated with these gifts. Cash donations during your lifetime are also very much appreciated. Online credit card donations may be made by clicking on the link below.
