Cudahy Family Library Gift Policy

The Library Board of Trustees appreciates the donation of gifts to the Cudahy Family Library that are in accordance with the Library’s mission and policies.  Examples of gifts include funds for the purchase of library materials and equipment; donations of books, audio-visual materials, or Local History Materials; undesignated cash bequests, trusts, or endowments; and real or personal property such as furnishings, stocks, art work, or real estate.  Gifts are not intended to replace budgeted library expenditures but are accepted to extend and enrich library resources and services.  Gifts are only accepted if they can benefit the Library, with the Library reserving the right to refuse any gift.

The Library maintains a Special Gifts Fund and a non-profit, charitable organization entitled the Cudahy Family Library Expansion Fund, Inc., for the managing of such gifts.  The Special Gifts Fund is primarily for specific purchases such as memorials or tributes made in honor of an individual or group, or donations for specific programs, technology, or equipment.  The Endowment Fund is primarily for gifts of consequence which will be used for special projects such as the renovation or expansion of a space, new furnishings, or a significant update of technology.  Cash bequests, trusts, and gifts of real or personal property are accepted by the Endowment Fund.  The Special Gift Fund and the Endowment Fund are reviewed annually in the Library’s audit. A portion of the Cudahy Family Library Endowment Fund is invested in the Greater Milwaukee Fund, and interested donors may also contribute through that organization.

The Library Director is responsible for the administration of the Special Gifts Fund and works with the Library Board and the Endowment Fund Board in the administration of the Cudahy Family Library Endowment Fund, Inc.  The Library Director is available to meet with prospective donors, without obligation, to discuss areas of interest, the plans of the Library, types of gift commitments, options for making donations, and naming opportunities.

Please Consider a Donation

There are many ways to give to the Cudahy Family Library. Consider including the Cudahy Family Library in your will or trust as part of your estate plan. Some individuals have named the Library as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or qualified retirement plan. Donations of stock, bonds, or other property are also welcome, and often times there are significant tax advantages associated with these gifts. Cash donations during your lifetime are also very much appreciated.  Online credit card donations may be made by clicking on the link below.
